The MetroStars scored three second half goals in a span of ten minutes, earning an improbable tie in New England, 3:3. John Wolyniec and Ricardo Clark scored for the Metros, sandwiching an own goal by Rev hack Daouda Kante. The game was most likely the last for Tim Howard in a Metro uniform as his transfer to Manchester United should be finalized very soon.

The MetroStars came out with no first-choice starters on defense, with the back line of Edgar Bartolomeu, Juan Forchetti, Joe Addo, and Chris Leitch. And the lack of quality showed as Leitch lost Taylor Twellman on a corner kick just seven minutes in, the Rev striker opening the score with a header that Richie Williams couldn't clear off the line.

In the 36th minute, the Revs made it 2:0 after a give-and-go between Twellman and Joe-Max Moore, the latter beating Forchetti to the ball and then beating Howard. And it all seemed lost in the 50th minute, as Pat Noonan took a Moore redirection off a free kick to blast it into the Metro net. At this point, the Metros had no shots on goal in the game.

But the most unlikely of heroes emerged, as John Wolyniec replaced Jaime Moreno in the 63rd minute. Just three minutes after, still against a run of play, he received a long pass from Mark Lisi, fought off two defenders, and blasted a low shot into the Rev net, bringing the Metros within two.

In the 73rd minute, Rev keeper Adin "Cult! Cult! Cult!" Brown received the ball, and with Mike Magee pressuring (not unlike a similar situation versus Dallas earlier this year), elected to kick it to avoid a back pass. The ball hit Kante in the face and ricocheted into the net. It was now a one-goal game.

And just three minutes after, off a short corner kick, Lisi sent in a long curving ball into the box that found Ricardo Clark's head. The rookie scored his third goal in four games to finish the incredible comeback.

Both teams had excellent chances in overtime, Troll Franchino hitting the side netting for the Revs, and Wolyniec being denied twice on a breakaway by Adin Brown. But overall, a terrific point from a game that seemed lost.

And thank you, Timmy!

Lineup: Howard, Bartolomeu, Forchetti, Addo, Leitch, Clark, Williams, Lisi, Guevara, Magee, Moreno. Subs: Wolyniec, Galvan, Regan.
